Resourceful Mind™

Resourceful Mind™ is an award-winning peer support program developed by Lifeline WA in partnership with the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA to strengthen mental health and wellbeing across Australia’s resources sector. Designed for remote and FIFO work environments, the program addresses challenges resource sector workers face, including isolation, long working hours, high job demands and limited access to support services. Through practical peer support networks, the initiative helps organisations create stronger, more connected and mentally healthy workplaces.

The program trains workplace peer supporters, known as Minders, to serve as trusted contacts who help colleagues facing personal or work-related challenges. Delivered by experienced Lifeline WA Crisis Supporters through virtual and face-to-face formats, the training equips participants with the skills and confidence to support meaningful conversations, provide practical assistance and encourage access to appropriate support. Ongoing professional development sessions help Minders maintain and strengthen their capabilities.

Resourceful Mind™ promotes a proactive approach to workplace mental health by reducing stigma, encouraging peer connection and supporting psychologically healthy work environments. By building supportive networks within work teams, Resourceful Mind helps organisations strengthen workplace culture, improve wellbeing outcomes and create safer and more connected workplaces. An independent evaluation found that the program does not adversely affect Minders’ psychological health, reinforcing its effectiveness as a workplace peer support model.

Lifeline WA

Lifeline WA is a Western Australian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing suicide, supporting people in crisis and reducing the stigma that can prevent individuals from seeking help. For more than 40 years, the organisation has provided compassionate support through its 24-hour crisis services, ensuring that people across WA have access to free and confidential assistance whenever they need it. Guided by the belief that timely support can save lives, Lifeline WA works to create a community where no one has to face their toughest moments alone.

In addition to its crisis support services, Lifeline WA delivers programs that strengthen mental health, wellbeing and community resilience. These include suicide prevention training, counselling, peer support initiatives, family support programs and workplace mental health education. By working with individuals, workplaces and communities, the organisation helps build awareness, improve help-seeking behaviours and create environments that support positive mental health outcomes.

Lifeline WA places human connection at the centre of its work. Through trained Crisis Supporters, volunteers and community partnerships, the organisation provides support, hope and practical assistance to people experiencing emotional distress, mental health challenges, trauma, grief, isolation and other life difficulties. By combining crisis intervention, education and prevention initiatives, Lifeline WA continues to play an important role in strengthening the wellbeing of individuals, workplaces and communities.
