Thrive at Work in Mining Masterclass Series
The Thrive at Work in Mining Masterclass Series is a collaborative learning initiative developed by the Future of Work Institute (FOWI). It helps mining organisations create mentally healthy, safe and respectful workplaces. The series brings together professionals from across the mining sector to translate research into practical workplace action, strengthening organisational approaches to wellbeing, leadership and psychosocial safety. Through a structured and evidence-based format, the program encourages organisations to move beyond reactive wellbeing initiatives and adopt preventative, integrated workplace practices.
Guided by the Thrive at Work Framework, the masterclass series builds capability in psychosocial risk management, good work design and leadership for mental health and wellbeing. Participants take part in interactive workshops, peer-learning activities and action-planning sessions that combine practical tools with contemporary research. The program also supports collaboration across organisational functions, helping leaders, health and safety professionals, human resources teams and wellbeing practitioners work together to improve workplace outcomes.
The initiative extends beyond formal training by fostering an ongoing community of practice where participants share knowledge, discuss challenges and support continuous improvement. It has also produced practical resources, including toolkits and case studies, to guide the implementation of mentally healthy work practices in diverse organisational settings. Through knowledge sharing, collaboration and applied learning, the masterclass series helps organisations strengthen workplace wellbeing and embed sustainable psychosocial safety practices.
