The Better Together Platform (BTP) is a free digital toolkit for the WA mining industry that helps organisations assess, benchmark, and improve psychosocial health and safety. Through tailored surveys, interactive reporting, and evidence-based resources, the platform supports healthier, safer and more respectful workplaces.
ECU MARS Centre – Combatting Workplace Bullying and Incivility
The Workplace Bullying and Incivility Capability Maturity Model Toolkit helps WA mining organisations assess current practices and strengthen workplace cultures. Developed for the mining sector, it supports proactive, organisation-wide approaches to preventing bullying and incivility, helping create safer, more respectful, and productive workplaces.
ECU MARS Centre – Psychosocial Risk Management Activator
The PRiMA Toolkit is a practical resource developed by the MARS Centre, UNSW, and the WA mining industry to help workplaces identify and manage psychosocial risks. Building on research and industry trials, it provides a structured, user-friendly approach aligned with WA psychosocial hazard codes of practice. While it can be used independently, PRiMA is most effective when completed collaboratively by a steering or working group.
ECU MARS Centre – Reframing Fatigue in Mining
This report reviews international research on fatigue in the mining industry, highlighting its impacts on safety, health, and performance. It shows that fatigue is influenced by workplace, organisational, and individual factors, and outlines the need for integrated Fatigue Risk Management Systems to better protect workers and improve safety outcomes.
ECU MARS Centre – Safety BMI
Monitoring the effectiveness of injury prevention initiatives results in large amounts of data and information. This project analysed donated data and information and created a process which interprets it to inform injury risk performance. This project aims to provide organisations with a way to evaluate their performance, and therefore how to improve.

The DEI Capability Maturity Model (DEI CMM) is an evidence-based toolkit that helps organisations assess and improve their diversity, equity and inclusion capability. It provides a structured framework for benchmarking performance, identifying priorities, and driving continuous cultural improvement.
ECU MARS Centre – Women in Mining
This report brings together four decades of research on women’s participation in the Australian mining industry, examining how workplace practices, cultures, and work arrangements influence attraction, retention, and career progression.
