Nominations are open for the Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards, which recognise outstanding solutions and innovations to specific workplace health and safety problems in Western Australia.
One of the Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards categories honours organisations for their commitment to preventing psychosocial hazards in the workplace. A past winner in this category is MARS Program funding recipient Resourceful Mind.
Resourceful Mind, which Lifeline WA created in partnership with the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA, develops peer supporters known as minders. These minders become the first people to whom their workmates can turn when they face professional or personal challenges, providing safe spaces for early intervention and support. The benefits of Resourceful Mind include reducing stigma, encouraging people to seek help before they reach crisis points, creating stronger communities on mine sites, fostering supportive work environments and providing minders with access to Lifeline WA’s debrief services if they need assistance themselves.
